Jesus answered, “It is written”. Notice that in each of his responses to the
tempter Jesus quotes Scripture. He
correctly handles the word of God to defend himself against attack by the
enemy. Jesus was tempted just as you and
I are, but he did not sin. In his
humanity Jesus defeated the tempter by the Spirit and the Word of God. In our daily struggles we have access to the
very same resources. Through the work
Jesus did on the cross we have access.
Jesus said he had to go so that the comforter could come. Jesus sent us his Holy Spirit to walk with us
through the most difficult times in our lives and the most wonderful. As we walk through Lent, let’s walk together
with the Spirit and allow him to empower us to be the men and women that God
designed us to be.
Am I allowing the Holy Spirit to empower me daily?
How can I be more in tune with the Spirit’s desires?
Lord, thank you for providing everything we need to become
more than conquerors. Help us to walk
with you everyday. Your word says that
as we come near to God and he will come near to you (James 4:8). Lord I want to be close to you today. Amen.
