Expectations

Matt 4:6 “If you are the Son of God…”  If you are the Son of God can also be translated Since you are the Son of God.  The devil may not just be calling Jesus’ identity into question, but may be tempting Jesus to act according to some of the world’s expectations for him as the Son of God.  As believers we must remember not to let the world define our call. So often we try to live up to the expectations of the world and those around us when those expectations are flawed and inaccurate.  By the power of the Holy Spirit we need to live up to the expectations and call of our heavenly Father, not the world.  Don’t let the expectations of others cause you to swerve from the path God has placed you on.
Have I somehow allowed the expectations of others to lessen who I am in Christ or the call He has for me?
What unrealistic expectations have I allowed the enemy to use to question my relationship with God?
Lord, forgive me for listening to who the world says I should be.  Help me be the person you have called me to be.  If you are for me who can be against me?  I want to walk in the light as you are in the light. Amen
