Matt 4:6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw
yourself down. For it is written: “‘He
will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their
hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”
It’s interesting that Satan uses Scripture here to tempt
Jesus. In the first temptation Jesus said,
“Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth
of God.” Jesus passed the first test by
trusting in God and in His word. So now
the enemy tempts him to prove it by putting his faith to the test according to
Scripture. But Satan is twisting the
Scripture. We have to be very
careful. Many people today,
intentionally and unintentionally, twist the Scriptures. We must be workers who do not need to be
afraid but CORRECTLY handle the word of truth.
People say a lot of things that sound really good but are not the
truth. We cannot know and understand the
truth of God unless we spend time with Him in His word.
What lies am I believing because they came from the Bible
and sound good?
How can I protect myself from being deceived through the incorrect
use of God’s word?
Lord, help me to grasp your truth and not be led astray by
wise and persuasive words that sound good but are lies. I want to hide your word in my heart that I
might not sin against you. Amen.
